Want an adventure inspired by Arabian Nights? Take an excursion to an extraordinary place - the Rub al-Khali desert. The famous Empty Quarter is the largest sand desert in the world. You'll immerse yourself in a space where the horizon merges with golden dunes, and the night sky looks as if you could touch the stars.
Your adventure begins in the afternoon, as you depart from your hotel toward Thumrait. After a short break, you will continue your journey across the vast, gravel-filled expanse of Al Nejd. As you approach the desert, you’ll feel the scenery slowly transforming into an endless sea of sand.
In the heart of the Rub al-Khali, Magic Camp awaits you - a comfortable camp nestled among the dunes. As the sun begins to set, you'll move to a specially prepared sunset lounge to admire the sunset - hues of pink, orange, and gold painting the sky and shadows dancing across the rolling dunes.
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner beneath a star-studded sky, accompanied by Bedouin storytelling that brings the desert's culture and daily life closer to you. A night spent in the absolute silence of Rub al-Khali is an experience unlike any other in the world.
After breakfast, you'll head to the Lost City of Ubar, swallowed by the desert and nicknamed the "Atlantis of the Sands". This UNESCO World Heritage Site remained a mystery for centuries until it was spotted on satellite images in the 1990s. Archaeological excavations revealed the remains of ancient structures and opened another chapter in the history of this legendary city.
You will then discover Wadi Dawkah, another UNESCO site known as the Valley of Frankincense. This is where the region's most significant natural concentration of frankincense trees grows. You’ll learn how frankincense resin has been used for thousands of years: from rituals and trade to its modern applications.
After a morning filled with discoveries, you will return to Salalah before noon, enriched by extraordinary experiences and memories from the picturesque desert.
The order of sightseeing and the program may change.
